ITP on the Big Screens

Touched by Strangers

I was fortunate enough to be asked to take part in one of the performances at the now annual ITP on the Big Screens event. This is the second year that the Big Screens class is being taught by Dan Shiffman. The Big Screens class is all about producing a piece of material to be put on display on the giant rear projected screens (yeah they're huge, like 20' by 100') at the IAC building here in New York City. A friend of mine, Alex Reeder, asked me to be one of the actors in his large-screen, interactive performance "Touched by Strangers" alongside Marie Yagami.

The performance involved a series of beautiful time-lapse photography and custom jumpsuits that control the onscreen photography when touched by others. Simple, but it turned out really well. It was also one of the first projects / performances that I know of that took advantage of Kate Hartman and Rob Faludi's Lilypad Xbee.

If you weren't able to make it, Emily took some really nice photos that are now on her Flickr.
